"Lisa Costa is no newcomer to professional baking. She trained at the Culinary Institute of America and did stints in the kitchens of Bouchon Bakery, La Boulangerie in Forest Hills and the Museum of Modern Art's Michelin-starred restaurant. But it wasn't until she was laid off from her job at Planned Parenthood during the pandemic that she got the push she needed to start her own baking operation."
About Us
Joey Stallings is a classically trained pastry chef that has worked in NYC restaurants and bakeries for the last 14 years. A transplant from Houston, Texas, he followed his passion of baking and pastry to Washington DC, where he attended culinary school before reaching his final destination of NYC.
Joey and his best friend, Lisa Costa, joined forces at Peace Love & Dough two years ago after meeting at Lafayette Grand Cafe & Bakery years prior. It is not lost on him that he gets to do what he loves most with people he loves everyday.
In 2020, during a global pandemic, the world seemed bleak and hopeless. In this joyless time when people were the most discontented, Lisa Costa saw an opportunity to bring the world a little more sweetness, and founded Peace, Love, & Dough.
Lisa, a Long Island native, knew she wanted to be a baker from her childhood, which eventually led her to fulfill her dream of attending the Culinary Institute of America. She then went on to work at numerous bakeries and restaurants in New York, San Francisco, and italy. After a short sabbatical working in social justice, she was drawn back to this industry to start her own business.
Peace, Love, and Dough has given Lisa, and her business partner Joey, the opportunity to bring a small slice of joy and happiness to others through their food by providing delicious baked goods to the city they cherish.
